The Enex Facade

Facade Reconstruction Completed 2021.

Hobbs, Smith and Forbes and the Architecture of the original façade. Hobbs, Smith and Forbes were a prominent Architectural practice established by Joseph John Talbott Hobbs and EH Dean Smith and WJ Waldie Forbes who were responsible for numerous prominent buildings in Perth. The c1908 facade is the only remnant remaining of the Federation free classical style building and presents an example of retail buildings showcasing wares to the public.

Facade Reconstruction

A laser scanned survey recorded the deteriorating facade digitally, to allow for accurate replication in Glass Reinforced Concrete. The facade represents early retail development in the City of Perth, there is no authentic fabric remaining. The interpretation of the Enex Facade aims to highlight the historic significance of the place. It enhances the enjoyment and understanding of the changes that have occurred though its life.
